Every year, High Point Market offers a glimpse into where interior design is headed, and our trip to the 2026 market left us feeling especially inspired about what’s to come. From fully upholstered furnishings to boldly patterned sofas, game tables, and the continued popularity of burl wood, we’re noticing a shift toward homes that feel more layered and expressive. Our team had a fun trip, making the drive from Cleveland to explore the latest offerings and collections from top-tier brands. We took note of the styles we spotted (and loved!) over and over again to share with all of you. Here’s our design recap and predictions for trends we’ll spot in people’s homes in 2027 and beyond. Take a look below and let us know which ones you’d love to bring into your own space!
1. Head-to-Toe Upholstery
Fully upholstered furniture is shaping up to be a big trend for 2027. Throughout market, our team spotted a ton of chairs, ottomans, and sofas covered completely in fabric from the top all the way down to the legs. We love this look because it instantly makes a space feel softer, warmer, and a little more inviting while adding a cozy, collected feel to the room.

2. Burl wood
We’re also seeing burl wood continue to have a major moment, showing up on everything from coffee tables and consoles to accent pieces. Burl wood forms from rare growth patterns in trees, so each piece has a unique, one-of-a-kind look, making it feel all the more special in a room.

3. Game Tables
Game tables are going to be everywhere in 2027! With traditional games like mahjong experiencing a major resurgence, we predict that we’ll start seeing these pieces appear in more living rooms and gathering spaces. We love this trend because it’s a design moment that encourages people to slow down, gather, and interact.

4. Patterned Sofas
While patterned sofas are always a favorite for our team, we’re so thrilled to see them gaining popularity in homes and furniture designers offering a wider range of options. There is something so inviting about a patterned sofa. It’s a great choice for people who want their homes to feel warm, inviting, and personal.

5. Lantern Lighting
An unexpected but fun trend we saw at market: lantern lighting! But not just your standard lanterns… lanterns that were sculptural, oversized, in all different styles. Whether used in an entryway, above a dining table, or in a cozy kitchen nook, lantern-style lighting brings a timeless, collected feel to a room.
